Meet Hong, Rose, and Florence at Mr. Red Cafe. Rose and her husband, Hong, have been serving up northern Vietnamese cuisine at 2234 E. Hastings St. since April. “It’s really our passion,” said Rose, whose grandparents owned a restaurant in Vietnam for 37 years. Hong, a chef with 10 years’ experience, prepares traditional dishes from Hanoi. “It’s where my family is from. We wanted to bring something different to Vancouver,” said Rose, who loves the area. “We have so many friendly, young customers who bring their friends back to see us. People have been very supportive since we opened.” Stop in and try their crab rolls and sticky rice with chicken. Delicious!
