VANCOUVER, BC (February 14, 2018) – With 40 distilleries from across British Columbia showcasing their best products, BC Distilled invites aficionados and newbies alike to explore the country’s biggest artisan and micro-distillery event on April 14. This year the festival features 12 new distilleries which have opened since last year’s show. Each distillery is represented by the distiller or other distillery staff, giving guests a chance to interact with the people who actually make the spirits. An on-site Legacy Liquor pop-up shop lets participants purchase bottles to take home, selecting from the widest selection of BC spirits available anywhere, with more than 150 products. In addition, the festival’s charity partner, Pacific Assistance Dogs Society, will be back, hosting a silent auction filled with products donated by the exhibitors, and bringing their dogs and puppies for attendees to meet. “British Columbia is the leader in artisan distilling in Canada,” said festival founder Alex Hamer. “BC Distilled is the best opportunity for fans of local spirits to try what the province has to offer, and meet the people who make these great spirits.” Following the recent Canadian Artisan Spirit Competition, BC Distilled will showcase some of the best spirits in the country, including Odd Society Spirits Mia Amata, Victoria Distillers Empress 1908 Gin, Merridale Cidery & Distillery Cowichan Copper Gin, and Wayward Distillation House Depth Charge, all of which won gold medals and Best in Class in their categories. Sheringham Distillery Akvavit, named this year’s Canadian Artisan Spirit of the Year, will also be available to sample and purchase. Forage Distiller’s Dinner Returns Last year’s sold out Distillers Dinner at Forage restaurant returns on Friday, April 6. Chef Chris Whittaker will feature six cocktail and spirit samples from BC distilleries, paired with six terroir-based courses.
