BC Buy Local Week (Nov 27 – Dec 3 2017) is an annual celebration of local business to promote the contributions that BC businesses make to our economy and our communities!
LOCO has been coordinating BC Buy Local Week since 2012.
The goal of the BC Buy Local campaign is to illuminate the local market, making BC-based businesses, products and services more visible to consumers. If BC shifted 1% of their spending to locally owned, locally made and locally grown products, it would create 3100 jobs and send $94M in wages to BC workers.
BC Buy Local is a social media and advertising campaign that educates consumers on the importance of independent business to our economy, highlights partners across the province, and promotes the stories of local business’ commitment to their communities (employment, purchasing from local suppliers, etc). Because online shopping is rising in importance and still sends ⅔ of spending to U.S. corporations, the online campaign helps to increase exposure for small local businesses for whom digital adoption is slow.
