Double Trouble Q & A

Get to know the East Village summer students: Hannah & Helen

Q: Where is home?

Hannah: New Westminster.

Helen: Home for me is beautiful Vancouver, BC! I was born and raised here
in the city.

Q: What are you passionate about?

Hannah: I’m passionate about my studies in environment! It’s a super
interesting field and one I’m glad to be a part of. My other field of
study is Maps and cartography which is awesome because to create a map
is to shape how others see the world.

Helen: I am passionate about advocating for children’s rights all around
the world. It’s great to be able to learn new things and find out ways
in which I can help.

Q: Favorite class at school?

Hannah: In high school I loved drama, it was always fun to get on stage and
play games with classmates. In university, I’m particular about any class where I don’t need to write papers.

Helen: My favorite class at school was Environmental Science 101. It’s an
introductory course to the different subject matters and one of the
main reasons why I decided to major in environmental science!

Q: What’s your favorite part about working with the East Village?

Hannah: The team! I think everyone here at the BIA is super nice and I’m so
glad to be working with them all.

Helen: I have to say that my favorite part about working here is getting
the opportunity to help out local businesses in the East Village. I
used to come to the neighbourhood a lot as a kid and I’d love to keep
it going.

Q: Favorite place to shop, drink, eat?

Hannah: My favorite food is poke! So probably Steve’s Poke Bar. I’ll never
pass up a chance to have some.

Helen:  Imposter Cafe and Provisions is the best place for all things sweet.

Q: What do you like to do in your spare time?

Hannah: In my spare time I love to draw and play games with my friends.
I’ve been drawing for most of my life and have always loved it. And
games were a great way to keep in touch with my friends during the
pandemic!

Helen: I like to go biking around my neighbourhood in the summertime.

Q: What are you currently very excited about?

Hannah: I’m currently most excited for a camping trip I’ll be going on this
summer with some close friends. We went last year and had a blast, so
this’ll be round two.

Helen: I’m currently very excited about all the concerts I’ll be going to
this summer!

Q: What’s one thing that you’d have in your utopian society?
