Meet Lucy and Felicia, the mother and daughter behind Felicia’s at 2492 E. Hastings. For 33 years, this small family restaurant has served pizza, lasagna, pasta, and more to locals and celebrities alike, including Bif Naked, Johnny Depp, and Michael Chiklis. Lucy, the chef, makes all the food, including the lasagna noodles and pizza dough, as well as the home-made bread and buns, baked fresh every day. “I don’t buy bread,” said Lucy “I make all the dough by hand.” Her daughter, Felicia, works front-of-house. “My mom loves to cook,” said Felicia. “All our food is very healthy. We don’t own a deep fryer.” They buy their meat from local butchers (including Rio Friendly Meats and Columbus Meat Market), use very little salt, and now offer gluten-free options. Open since 1980, they’ve seen the area grow and change, but still feel at home here. “We love to be part of the community,” said Felicia. “We wouldn’t be anywhere else.” Stop in for their staples, like home-made pizza, their all-beef meatballs and pasta sauce, and tiramisu, or for their specials, like Ossobuco veal shank, Milanese risotto, or home-made gnocchi.
