Lunar New Year 2025

Get ready to slither into the Year of the

Golden Snake! 

 

On Friday, January 31, 2025, starting at 11:30 am, join the BIA as we kick off a vibrant celebration along Hastings Street!

The celebration begins at the SE corner of Slocan and East Hastings, where you’ll catch a dazzling procession of two skilled Chinese Lion Dancers and an electrifying Chinese Drum Entourage. Watch and parade along with us as the lion makes its way through the 2700-2100 blocks of East Hastings, blessing local businesses and spreading good vibes throughout the East Village. Don’t miss out on the fun—come celebrate good fortune, bright colours, and plenty of festive energy!

For business members on East Hastings who want to participate in our annual Lunar New Year Celebration, please contact the East Village BIA before January 28th! The BIA will provide you with a head of lettuce sponsored by Donald’s Market to feed the lion and a lucky red envelope to put your $20.00 donation in.
