Meet Thomas Lockhart, owner of West Coast Tattoo, formerly located at 620 Davie St. Thomas moved his famous tattoo shop to 2108 E. Hastings five years ago. The renowned tattoo artist loves the vibrant neighbourhood. “It reminds me of the Drive,” he said. “It has an Italian feel. And On Lok is close. They make good Chinese food.” Thomas has been tattooing since 1979, but initially started on a very different career path as a commercial pilot. He also holds a degree in psychology from Carleton University, and a scuba license. He is currently working on a book documenting the history of tattooing in Vancouver.
