2016 Community Small Grants and Workshops

Ever had an idea for a project or event that you wanted to host with your friends or neighbours? Better yet, how about a project or community event that helped bring the community together and make it a better place to live? If you answered YES to either of these questions, you should consider applying for the 2016 Community Small Grants and take advantage of their workshops before you submit your idea. Community Small Grants Community Small Grants range from $500-$1500. The Hastings North Community Partners Group manages and distributes $18,000 annually in Community Small Grants which are funded by the City of Vancouver through the Hastings Legacy Fund. We encourage you to develop an idea that will promote social inclusion and cultural connections allowing us to bring the broader community together. Read below for Grant criteria. Projects and Events can include:

  • Cultural Performances & Activities
  • Community Dances
  • Murals / Art Projects
  • Community Celebrations & Festivals
  • Community & Neighbourhood Gardens
  • Food Security Projects
  • Resident Led Classes
  • Community Dialogues and Discussions
  • and more

Community Small Grant Criteria:

  • Both applicants are individuals who reside in the eligible area (not businesses or Societies)
  • Project/event will take place within the eligible area only
  • Project/event is open to all members of the community
  • Project/event has a solid plan of action and timeline for planning and completion
  • Project/event adheres to laws and City bylaws, and is socially acceptable to the majority of the neighbourhood
  • Project/event needs to be fully completed by Dec. 31, 2016

There will be a Cantonese and Mandarin Translator available.
