Save the date and buy your tickets for the 4th Annual Chocolate Challenge at The Gourmet Warehouse. The evening will include eight of Vancouver’s top chocolatiers competing to be this year’s Chocolate Champion. Not only will you be able to taste all the chocolate entries on display, there will also be numerous food stations from local artisanal companies like Earnest Ice Cream, Tacomio and Stumptown Coffee; and wine from Vintage Corks. Bid on one of the wonderful items up for grabs in the silent auction, with all the proceeds from the night going towards the Strathcona Backpack Program and Project Chef. Last year the event brought in over $17,000, with The Gourmet Warehouse raising over $40,000 for the charities since the fundraiser’s inception. This year’s chocolate challenge competitors include Barefoot Bistro, Chez Christophe, Chocolate Arts, French Made Baking Patisserie, Gem Chocolates, Purdy’s Chocolates, Temper Chocolate & Pastry and Thomas Haas. The Backpack Program started in 2010 with a small number of families. At that time, children brought home a backpack of food for the weekend supplied by the Food Bank. About Project Chef: Project CHEF is a non-profit program that partners with Vancouver School Board to teach children about wholesome food. The Project CHEF program began implementation in the winter of 2008. At the conclusion of the 2013 – 2014 school year, the program has reached approximately 8400 children from Vancouver schools and directly involved over 4800 parent and community volunteers.
