Apply for a 2020 PNE Community Grant from $100-$3000

Calling all Hastings Sunrise non-profits or recognized community groups; you may be eligible for a PNE Community Grant.

Going into its fourth year, this community initiative will provide an opportunity for numerous local groups to host free, fun, and accessible events or programs for the local Hastings Sunrise community.

The 2019 PNE community grant program was a great success, being able to support seven local groups in hosting part or all of their event or program.

2019 Recipients included:

Kiwassa Community Food Market by Kiwassa Neighbourhood Services Association – July, Aug, Sept 2019
Fresh produce, preserves, snacks, seeds & seedlings, coffee, crafts, jewelry, kids’ activities, and more!
Art in the Park by Frog Hollow Neighbourhood House – Series of days starting Jul 6, 2019 – Clinton Park
Art workshops all summer long, once a week for the community.
Ecostewards Invasive Species Removal by Eastside Ecostewards – Series of days – New Brighton Park and Hastings Racecourse Wetlands
Series of clean-ups of invasive species at New Brighton Park and Hastings Racecourse Wetlands.
Movie Night in the Gardens by Hastings Little League – Apr 2020 – Hastings Park:
Movie night at Hastings Park!
Vines Eco-Art Community Events by Vines Art Festival – Sept, Oct, Nov 2019 – Pandora Park:
A series of free workshops for all ages! Examples include (but not limited to): Queer, Two Spirit, Trans Eco Theatre; Teeny, Tiny Open Mic; Earthquake Preparedness Kit Making; Native Plant Walk; Tea/Tincture making workshops; and Recipe Sharing / Zine Making.

Nature Walks in Hastings Park – Spring 2020 (Hastings Park Conservancy)
The Sanctuary is an amazing place to enjoy a quiet space and learn about nature.

This year’s Community Day at Playland is happening on Saturday, May 23, where $10 from each purchased regular priced ticket will go towards the PNE Community Grant Fund (to a maximum of $10,000).

Make sure to come out and support your local organizations and groups!

Submissions for grants between $100 to $3,000 will be accepted until Friday May 8, 2020 @ 10am.

This year, we are focusing on bringing events and programs to Hastings Park. Preferred eligibility will be given to events and programs hosted onsite. For application & information guidelines, please click here.

Background: Prior to the development of the community grant fund the PNE hosted Community Day at Playland and the money raised went to the Hastings Community Little League (HCLL) as they were preparing to host the 2016 Canadian Little League Championships. We were able to raise $100,250.
