Container Conversations – Opening Reception

July 22, 2018

Kiwassa Neighbourhood House, Oxford Street, Vancouver, BC, Canada

Join Hastings North Community Partners Group on Sunday, July 22 from 2-4PM for the opening reception for Cargo Conversations – a week-long art, performance and community conversation series in Hastings Sunrise.

In a remodeled cargo container, artist Anne Watson has created a four-dimensional installation of sound, paint and text that celebrates voices and ideas from #thisneighbourhoodlife, an award-winning six-part radio residency in partnership with Roundhouse Radio. Almost 100 people who live, work and play in Hastings Sunrise were interviewed, exploring topics ranging from food security to better childcare facilities, immigration and settlement, to housing and small business vitality.

Container Conversations builds on this conversation at the corner of the Sunrise Square parking lot at 2500 Franklin Street (at Kamloops) from the 22nd to the 27th of July.

The free series kicks off with an opening reception on Sunday, July 22 from 2-4 with music from Breaking Boundaries and Jeanette & Lawry. Check out the installation, great local musicians and meet (and hear) #thisneighbourhoodlife radio guests, neighbours and friends. Activities, conversations and performances.

Container Conversations is made possible by support of Hastings North Community Partners Group, Kiwassa Neighbourhood House and the City of Vancouver.
