The Atrium Inn, located at 2889 East Hastings Street, is an independently owned hotel, which just undertook a recent renovation about six months ago. The hotel staffs some thirty employees, many of which have been with the hotel for years. “Now that we are an independent hotel, it gives us a lot more flexibility to cater to local clientele and really embrace the east village,” says Larissa, operations manager at the Atrium Inn. 
Larissa has been with the hotel for three years now. When we ask her what she likes about her job, she says no two days are ever alike. “There is never a day that is the same, it always changes,” she says with a smile. Larissa is a fan of the neighbourhood, and says she loves working in the district. “I like that this is the next up and coming area,” Larissa says. “There are so many unique stores and restaurants; there is so much going on here. It’s alive.” Located just minutes from downtown, Atrium sees visitors from all over the world, and also has a restaurant, The Press Box, a warm and friendly neighbourhood style pub located on the premises. The hotel has a boardroom for company luncheons, and the restaurant is also available for special events and charity fundraisers.
