Removing debris and unwanted graffiti not only makes the neighbourhood cleaner, it also makes it safer. Research has shown that systematic removal of garbage and graffiti can greatly reduce crime, vandalism and mischief.
The Community Clean-up program is a year-round initiative that mobilizes volunteers and supports community members to remove litter and graffiti from Hastings Sunrise.
Anyone can participate in Clean-ups. It is a great way for residents, businesses and groups to cultivate a sense of pride and get involved in the community.
Partners in the program are the City of Vancouver(COV) and the Hastings North Business Improvement Association (HNBIA).
To participate or to learn the time and place of the next Clean-up, contact the HSCPC office at 604-717-3584.
The program welcomes everyone to participate — including youth needing to fulfill a volunteer requirement for school. Also, we do require a community participant form to be signed. Click here to download the form. (Youth under 18 years need a parent to sign the waiver.)
It’s a great way to make new friends while making a difference in the community. Continue the fun afterwards with free lunch back at the office. See you then!
Community Clean-ups are on Saturdays from 10am to 1pm:
October 13th & 27th
November 17th
December 1st
