A World Cup Welcome

A World Cup Welcome

We’ve had four different artists working around the neighbourhood on completely different projects. It’s been so much fun watching creativity pop up on our streets.

One of those projects is by Adea of Billy Would Designs who created a playful photo installation for us. It’s got a bit of a vintage holiday postcard feel, which actually suits the neighbourhood perfectly. Believe it or not, Hastings-Sunrise was once a popular holiday destination, with families heading here to enjoy New Brighton.

Keep an eye out for it, snap a photo, and tag us @eastvillagevan if you do. We can’t wait to see your smiling faces!

Tyler Toews, better known as Ty the Mural Guy, also stopped by to create three incredible 3D murals to help build some excitement for the World Cup. They’ve been an absolute hit! Seeing people stop, laugh, pose for photos and bring the artwork to life has been one of the best parts. Public art is always at its best when people become part of it. We’re so grateful to Tyler for helping turn a few ordinary spots into places that spark a little joy and a lot of fun.

Turbo Bambi Design

A huge thank you to Turbo Bambi for transforming our ping pong table into a beautiful work of art! Her colourful design has turned an everyday gathering spot into something truly special. We’re a little sad to see her go because she was such a joy to have around, but we’re so excited that her artwork will stay with the neighbourhood for years to come.

We can’t wait to see the community playing, gathering, and making memories around the table. If you stop by for a game, we’d love to see your photos!

This beautiful video came together almost by chance. It started as a last-minute idea and, thanks to the talent of our neighbourhood photographer, became a heartfelt celebration of East Village. It captures the everyday moments that make this community so special, from local businesses opening their doors to neighbours connecting on the street. We’re grateful to everyone who helped bring it to life and hope it inspires you to come explore the neighbourhood for yourself.
