Executive Director

Tricia Barnes has been the Executive Director of the East Village Business Improvement Association since 2001.

Tricia is very involved in community as she sits on several Boards including LOCO BC, BIABC, and others.

Most mornings you can catch her filling up her mug at The Laughing Bean Coffee Co. And some days you can find her enjoying an avocado benny from Roundel Cafe.

Jessica Liebenberg

Manager, Projects & Events

“I believe in joy!” –  WHAM!

Jess holds a Bachelor of Business from Capilano University and an MFA in Fiction from the City College of New York.  A ten-year neighbourhood resident and active community organizer, she continually envisions a more connected community while advocating for local shops and showcasing the neighbourhood through free community events and activations. Jess is humbled to be able to work with and live along side so many wonderful people.

In her spare time, Jess plays the drums in a local band and loves Frank’s Pizza and Tall Shadow Bakery

Michelle Sweeney

Marketing & Social Media Manager / Neighbourhood Cheerleader

Michelle is the neighbourhood cheerleader behind East Village marketing and social media. Originally from Ireland, she’s lived and worked in the neighbourhood for almost a decade. She studied fine art as well as buying and merchandising, and has long collaborated with local designers and small businesses.

East Cafe is her sanctuary and Baaad Anna’s is her haven.
